On Thursday 18 May, the College's annual inter-house athletics competition, Athla, was held at the University of Winchester Stadium. There were a number of excellent individual performances across all the events.
Gus (F) took the Senior Victor Ludorum Trophy for his success in the 100m hurdles, high jump and 1500m, with Alex Parkinson (G) securing the Junior Victor Ludorum through a dominant sprint double.
Alex (B) displayed outstanding sprinting ability in the senior 200m to set a new school record of 23.0s; the previous record having stood for 32 years.
The team events were closely contested, with Sergeant’s defeating Moberly’s by three points in the Junior competition and Hawkins' defeating Moberly’s in the Senior competition. Despite these losses, Moberly’s just bested Hawkins' by a point to claim the win in the overall competition.
Not to end the day empty handed, the Medley Relay Trophy was won by Hawkins'.
A first for Athla was the inagural Mixed 4 x 100m relay that saw Bramston's walk away with the distinguised achievement as the first to go into the history books with a win in this event.
