Dr Francis qualified from Southampton Medical School in 2002 and then completed four years of hospital placements in the surrounding areas of Winchester, Southampton, Portsmouth, Chichester and Lymington. These included jobs in the specialties of general medicine, surgery, A&E, paediatrics and child health, orthopaedics and psychiatry.

She has the additional qualifications of DRCOG (diploma in the royal college of obstetrics and gynaecology) and DFFP (diploma in the faculty of family planning), and has undertaken the practice lead role in safeguarding for over 10 years and attends locality safeguarding meetings. She also has a role teaching medical students and is a clinical supervisor for nurse practitioners. 

Dr Francis is based at the St Paul's Surgery in Winchester.
