Sergeant's house is located close to the main school campus, overlooking the sports facilities of Kingsgate Park and adjacent to the Music School. The house was founded in 1869 by the Rev'd E. W. Sergeant, and it is said that the distinguished architect G. E. Street (most widely known for the Royal Courts of Justice) designed the house as a Venetian palace. The Rev'd W. A. Fearon, Headmaster at the time, compared it to the Papal Palace at Avignon.
