Famous Belgians, elements of church architecture, and the manufacturer of Twirls, Wispas and Crunchies—all were quickly identified by Winchester’s Schools Challenge team in their first-round match against Nottingham High School.
The Schools Challenge is a national general knowledge competition that follows the same format as the popular television show University Challenge.
Competitors Harry, Matthew, Edward and Zachary (all X) each answered 10-point starter questions and collaborated on follow-ups, frequently receiving a 10-point bonus for correctly answering all three follow-ups.
The final result was a decisive 790 - 190 and entry into the next round.

Last Saturday, the College community joined together for the annual Drew Jug competition.
The theme for this year's competition was the prompt 'Home from Home', and entrants explored the nature of improvised dens as a starting point.
As the sun went down, a light mist descended on the field outside Art School, adding to the atmosphere.
From a crop of strong contenders, Furley’s were awarded the Drew Jug for their nest like sculpture which was inspired by ideas of nature’s organic beauty and themes of humanity’s polluting influence.
The prizes for collaboration and research were awarded to Chawker’s and Trant’s respectively.
