End of term
Parents should have received further information regarding end-of-term arrangements, including for 'Illuminā'. As a reminder, from 1645 on Friday 10 December staff, pupils and parents will gather in Meads to enjoy a bonfire and carol singing.
Parents may collect their sons after Illuminā even though the official end of term is 0900 on Saturday 11 December. A form notifying us of your plans has been sent separately for your input. The event will last 45mins - 1 hour.
We look forward to seeing you there!
Please find the final sports report of the term at the link below. Mr Mark Burley, Director of Sport would like to thank all of the pupils who have represented the school in the hundreds of fixtures this term and to the staff who have supported them.
Art at Winchester
Drew Jug is the annual inter-house art competition. Each year houses are given a theme and have several weeks to come up with a creative, sensitively executed response that should involve house collaboration and should emerge from a process of research and creative development. This year the theme was Map and boys were encouraged to consider the process of mapping something. Our adjudicator was the artist Angela Palmer, who uses mapping processes throughout her practice. She offered each house detailed constructive feedback before announcing this year’s prize winners.
The collaboration prize was awarded to Kenny’s whose globe sculpture focussed on the main international locations that make up their house community. The Research and Development prize went to Phil’s, who mapped the life of Wykehamist from his first day to Domum. The Drew Jug (main prize) was awarded to Furley’s who took an aerial map of the house and reduced it into a constructivist inspired abstract collage.

Charity at Winchester
Congratulations to those boys who braved the elements at the weekend to run on behalf of local children's charity, Naomi House & Jacksplace. There was a tremendous turnout; 40 Santas in all from Winchester College.
Paul Apostolides and Issa Duggan deserve a special mention for coming first and second respectively, out of 600 runners.
There is still time to support this worthy charity. Donate online.
Charities Committee
The Charities Committee has produced another lovely calendar this year; you are certain to want at least one for yourself and others as Christmas gifts!
The calendars cost £15 each and contain photos by current pupils and members of staff. Orders can be made online and will also be available for sale at Illuminā. We will be situated next to the refreshments stall. We will also be selling mugs, should they interest you too!
Parent event - Save the date
Please join us in New Hall for an evening of fun, entertainment and competition. We can accommodate 10 teams, each of 10 members. Registration opens at the beginning of next term when you will be able to book a table.
The cost per table is £100 and the link to register will be sent by email. Please plan your dream quiz team over the Christmas holidays and be ready to book early.
Parent event
A reminder for all parents in Hong Kong that the 2021 Hong Kong Christmas Dinner is taking place on Monday 20 December at The China Club, hosted by the Hong Kong Friends of Winchester College and the OW Guild.
On Friday, parents will receive a virtual Christmas wish from the Headmaster, including a full list of Short Half 2021 Prizes and Awards. It will also feature a special recording of this year's Mince Pie Concert held in College Hall.
Listening to pupils plays an important part in how we inform the development of the school. As well as the important informal conversations between pupils and staff, there are a number of formal mechanisms through which pupils can express their views and report on their experience.
